Thanksgiving Day Thanksgiving Day is an American national holiday. Americans celebrate(庆祝) this day on the fourth Thursday of November each year, it lasts for four days. The day is set aside for giving thanks to God for having harvested crops. As the day is set aside for giving thanks, it becomes a traditional day for family reunion. On the eve of Thanksgiving, members of the family will drive or even fly to gather. The next day they sit around a table, enjoying a large dinner together. Roast turkey, sweet potatoes and pudding(布丁) are cooked for the big Thanksgiving supper. On Thanksgiving Day, all stores are closed. Important football games are televised(播映). As a result, the streets become very quiet as if the whole city was a deserted place. The following day, however, everything becomes especially alive and active.
