He was looking for the father he never knew. She was looking for a second chance. Have you ever imagine that you will travel with a stranger who is old, cynical, selfish and fractious? I think I really can’t prevail upon myself to stay with her even for a second. However, life is full of uncertainty and tableaus. At the next moment, something will happen. This moment Josué is standing next to his mother while the next moment she is dead. This moment Dora is impervious while the next moment she finds her way back to her heart. The drama is about an emotive journey of a former school teacher Dora, who writes letters for illiterate people at Rio de Janeiro's central station, Central do Brazil and a 9-year-old boy Josué, whose mother has just died in a car accident, to Brazil's remote Northeast, in search for the father he has never seen. I know nothing about Brazil, but from the boy and the woman, I think I have understood it a little. And I begin to love it. The feeling of torridity and humidity runs through the drama, and I know it is a feeling close to journey and commotion, a tough journey to find yourself back and a commotion in your heart. I love this movie because it is not only a journey for Josué and Dora but also a journey for me. I know life is like a long-distance trip. I am 22 now and full of curiosity and energy, like Josué. If I want to do something, nobody can change my idea. I long for knowing that one day when I was 52, am I still so passionate to my life? Life, this long trip with your body and your heart will never stop until you are raised to the skies. You needn’t to be alive and kicking like a child, but you must keep your blood running genuinely. |
