1月10日，南京火车站开始发售2010年春运第一天的部分火车票。今年铁路春运自1月30日起至3月10日止，为期40天。

在上面的报道中，Spring Festival travel就是我们经常在新闻中听到的“春运”。春运是中国在农历春节前后发生的一种大规模的高交通运输压力的现象，也可以表达为transport during the Spring Festival period。春运是一个peak time for passenger transport（客流高峰期），届时将迎来volume of passenger transport（巨大的客运量），火车站会operate / arrange extra trains（加开列车），从而ease the traffic pressure（缓解交通压力），并且open 24-hour ticket sales windows（开通24小时售票窗口）。学校会帮学生进行group ticket-booking（火车票团体预订），还有deliver train tickets to the doorsteps（送票上门）的服务。春运期间，相关部门也会注意crack down on scalpers（打击票贩子）。

除了春节，让交通部门特别繁忙的时候还有 Labor's Day和National Day放的长假，这三个节日的连续七天休假均称为 golden week（黄金周）。
