在上面的报道中，online tribute就是“网上悼念”，网友们会在网上发悼念文章，或留言表达哀思。Tribute可以表示“（对死者的）致敬，悼念，致哀”。例如：an obituary tribute（悼辞）；此外，tribute还可以表示“颂词”，例如：a birthday tribute（生日祝福）。

除了网民自发的悼念之外，政府还为8名维和战士举行了mourning ceremony（哀悼仪式），他们honored by the government as martyears（被授予烈士荣誉称号），国家领导人在仪式上表达了condolence（哀悼之情）。2008年发生四川大地震后，我国举行了national mourning（全国哀悼），设立了national mourning day（全国哀悼日）。
