在上面的报道中，nuclear blackmail就是“核讹诈”，指的是凭借核武器的优势威胁恫吓他国。Blackmail的意思是“敲诈，勒索，讹诈”，例如：practice blackmail（进行勒索）。Blackmail也可以作动词用，除了表示“敲诈，勒索”，还可以表示“胁迫”，blackmail somebody into doing something是“胁迫某人做某事”。
