大早上起来你见到一位朋友，他对你说“I’m under the weather today”,你以为是什么意思呢？难道他说他今天在天气底下？

其实它的意思是“感觉不舒服”，与天气根本无关。

Weather就是天气，但是under the weather的意思是：我不太舒服，和天气没有关系。下面我们举的例子是一个人打电话到办公室去请假。

当你用under the weather的时候，你只是告诉对方你感到不舒服，而不用具体地告诉别人你究竟是头痛呢，还是拉肚子。Under the weather可能是有小毛小病的时候最普遍的用法。下面我们再来举个例子，这回是刚才那位老板Mr. Jones生病了，他打电话给他的秘书，当然不是向她请假，而是告诉她他不去上班，给她下一点指示而已。
