2010年北京国际车展即将拉开帷幕，不少爱车的朋友们已经按捺不住激动的心情，想在车展的时候大饱眼福。而参展商也摩拳擦掌，想在车展露上一把。

Ford plans to introduce its Edge sports utility vehicle (SUV) at the upcoming Beijing Auto Show this month in a bid to tap fast-growing demand for SUVs among Chinese customers.

福特公司计划在本月的北京车展上展出Edge 越野车（SUV），以便开发中国消费者快速增长的SUV车型需求。

文中的auto show就是指“车展”，也称为auto exhibition/expo。Auto单独使用时，在美国口语中表示“汽车”；做前缀时，可以表示“自我的、本身的”或“自动的”两层意思。例如有些相机可以在光线不好时进行auto-exposure（自动曝光），还可以进行auto-focus（自动调焦）。人们有时会在潜意识中进行auto-suggestion（自我暗示），等等。

文中还出现了sports utility vehicle（SUV）这种时尚车型，它就是指“越野车”，全称为“运动型多功能车”。喜欢SUV的朋友们一定也很青睐sports car/ roadster（跑车）。经济条件宽裕的朋友可以购置一辆limo/limousine（豪华轿车）。此外，RV（(Recreational Vehicle，房车)也开始在国内逐渐流行起来。
