霓虹灯、广告灯箱、玻璃幕墙……是不是让你看得头晕眼花的？如今，光污染已经成为大城市“不宜居”的一个重要因素。据悉，广州正酝酿试点开征光污染排污费，可能根据亮度制定收费标准。城市光污染有望得到调节。

据悉，中国南部广东省省会广州市将率先在全国开征光污染排污费。

文中的light pollution就是指“光污染”，指的是一种physical pollution（物理性污染），但标准很难界定，此次收费主要以light illuminance（光照度）是否超标来判定。 常见的light pollution sources（光污染源）包括neon light（霓虹灯）、decorative light （装饰灯）、advertisement boards（广告牌）、glass walls of skyscrapers（大厦的玻璃幕墙）等等。

与light pollution类似，noise pollution也属于一种物理性污染。目前对这类污染的收费主要以分贝为标准。此外，生活中的chemical contamination/pollution（化学污染）也会对人的健康构成威胁。随着工业化的发展，城市的air pollution（空气污染）和environmental pollution（环境污染）越来越严重了。

除了这种具体而有形的污染外，颓废文化的侵入还会给社会造成culture pollution（文化污染）。而各类“影响市容”的杂物也会使人感觉受到eye/visual pollution（视觉污染）。
