Tryst常用来指“情人的幽会”，如：In modern China, the café is often considered a good place for a lover's tryst（现今在中国，咖啡屋通常被认为是情人幽会的好地方）。另外，在花边新闻中，记者也喜欢用“tryst”来披露明星们的“浪漫史”—— 为了躲避“狗仔队”，名人们不得不“to keep secret tryst with sb”（秘密约会）。

此外，tryst还有一个近意词rendezvous。在有关载人飞船的新闻报道里，rendezvous经常出现，如：Inspired by China's second manned space mission, space officials unveiled a specific timetable for the second stage - conducting a space walk around the year 2007 and rendezvous docking in orbit by 2009-12. 不过，这里的rendezvous用的是它的另一个意思，指在空间轨道上实施飞行器的空间轨道“交会对接”。
