我国首次进行的全国青少年生殖健康调查结果表明，在未婚青少年中，约有60%对婚前性行为持较宽容的态度，22.4%曾有性行为，其中超过半数者在首次性行为时未使用任何避孕方法。仅有4.4%的未婚青少年具有正确的生殖健康知识。

在上面的报道中，reproductive health就是“生殖健康”。Reproductive在这里的意思是“生殖的，繁殖的”，例如：women in their reproductive years（育龄妇女）。Reproductive还可以表示“复制的”，例如：print books by modern reproductive methods（用现代复印术翻印书籍）。

现在premarital sex（婚前性行为）现象相当普遍，但是如果没有采用必要的contraceptives（避孕措施），则可能造成unplanned pregnancy（意外怀孕）。如果是到了婚龄的男女，也许可以就此步入婚姻，即shotgun marriage（奉子成婚），但是未成年人一般就只能去做artificial abortion operation（人流术）。
