记得第一次受邀当伴娘时，我花了很多心思打扮。结果在出门之前，被老妈一把拉住，说我穿得太漂亮了，会抢了新娘的风头。那么，英语里“抢某人风头”怎么说呢？那就是“steal one's thunder”。

“Steal one's thunder”（偷了某人的雷声）最初的意思是“偷了某人的想法”。这个短语的来历跟雷声有关。1704年，约翰•丹尼斯在他的戏剧《Appius and Virginia》中使用了一种新的制造雷声的方法，但是这部剧不成功，没演几次就被剧院取消了。可是他制造雷声的方法却被用在了其它剧中。他发现之后大叫：They will not let my play run, but they steal my thunder.（他们不演我的剧，却偷了我的雷声。）于是，“steal one's thunder”就成了“偷某人想法”的意思。后来，这个短语又引申出了“抢某人风头”的意思，而且比本义“偷某人想法”还要常见。
