对“黑色星期五”的恐惧还有一个专门的英文单词：friggatriskaidekaphobia。这个词由两个部分组成：frigga，意思是周五；triskaidekaphobia，意思是对数字13的恐惧，它的后缀-phobia，本身就是恐惧症的意思。

1972年10月13日，一架载有45人的客机从乌拉圭飞往智利，但因为遇上风暴坠毁在了3900多米高的安第斯山脉上，坠机地点离最近的道路也有402公里。机上45名乘客都是乌拉圭的橄榄球手和他们的朋友或家人，飞机坠毁后，最开始有29人生还，但在饥寒交迫中，最后只剩16人活了下来，史称安第斯空难。
