据报道，江苏淮安市楚州区吴承恩中学出现了肠道传染病疫情，日前已被确认为霍乱疫情。该学校目前报告病例19例，还有1人为“健康带菌者”。据悉这是近年来报告人数最多的一起霍乱疫情。

In addition to the 19 confirmed cases, one student was diagnosed as a "healthy carrier," or a person who was infected with the cholera bacteria but displays no symptoms. However, "healthy carriers" can transmit the bacteria to others.

除了19个确诊病例外，还有一名学生被诊断为“健康带菌者”，也就是被感染了霍乱病毒但是却没有表现出症状。但是，“健康带菌者”可以把病毒传染给他人。

在上面的报道中，healthy carrier指的是“健康带菌者”，指没有生病或生病痊愈之后身上还能找到病原体的人。“健康带菌者”自己不得病，却有传染别人的可能。Carrier在这里的意思是“带菌者、病毒携带者”，例如HIV carrier（艾滋病毒携带者）、carrier of disease（疾病传播媒介）。

Cholera（霍乱）的high-occurrence season（高发季节）是夏季。当地居民认为low hygiene awareness levels（卫生意识差）和 street food stalls（路边小吃摊）是这次outbreak（集中爆发）的根源。
