近日，重庆市政府公众信息网发布规定，婚外生子的双方及未婚生子的男女双方均要缴纳社会抚养费。在规定所列举的几种违法生育行为中，婚外生子，社会抚养费最高，双方将分别被处以最低的社会抚养费为上年度人均可支配收入的6倍，最高社会抚养费为上年度人均可支配收入的9倍，双方相加的社会抚养费最高可超过25万元。

在上面的报道中，give birth out of wedlock指的是“婚外生子”，更通俗一些的表达方式是married people having babies outside marriage。婚外生子所需缴纳的social compensation fee（社会抚养费）是最高的。另外，unmarried couples having babies（未婚生育）也同样要缴纳社会抚养费。

婚外生育的孩子即children born outside marriage / out-of-wedlock children（非婚生子），俗称“私生子”。“私生子”还有其他多种表达方式，如an illegitimate child，a natural child，a love child，a child of shame等。
