8月24日15时10分，我国在酒泉卫星发射中心用“长征二号丁”运载火箭成功将“天绘一号卫星”发射升空并送入预定轨道。

China successfully launched a mapping satellite, "Mapping Satellite - I," from the northwestern Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center at 3:10 p.m. (Beijing time) Tuesday.

北京时间周二下午3点10分，我国在西北的酒泉卫星发射中心成功地发射了一颗测图卫星“天绘一号”。

在上面的报道中，mapping satellite就是“测图卫星”，测图卫星是专门为测图目的设计的或具有立体测图能力的卫星。测图卫星属于manmade satellite（人造卫星），人造卫星可分为三大类：scientific satellite（科学卫星），technology experiment satellite（技术试验卫星）和application satellite（应用卫星）。

因为有了各种功能的应用卫星系统，我们的生活变得更加便捷。我们现在有GPS（global positioning system），也就是“全球定位系统”，它通过接收navigation satellite（导航卫星）的信号来为用户提供navigation map（导航地图），就算路盲也不怕出门了。
