明年年底，北京门头沟区试点运行的“立体快巴”有望解决现在的交通拥堵难题。这种“立体快巴”上面搭载乘客，底层镂空，小汽车在其“肚子”下面可以随便穿行，从而兼具地铁和快速公交系统的主要功能。

The straddling bus, first exhibited on the 13th Beijing International High-tech Expo in May this year, may be one possible answer to the traffic problem. In the near future, the model is to be put into pilot use in Beijing’s Mentougou District.

在上面的报道中，straddling bus就是我们提到的新型公共交通工具“立体快巴”。立体快巴沿轨道行驶，上方可载客1200人，悬空的下方可让高2米以下的汽车照常通过，令塞车情况减少20%至30%，造价仅是地铁的一成，却兼具了BRT（Bus Rapid Transit，快速公交系统）和subway（地铁）的功能。Straddle的意思是“分开腿站立，叉着双腿行走”，用来形容立体快巴运行的状态很形象。

立体快巴的出现是为了缓解北京交通拥堵的情况，在几年前北京已经开始采取traffic restrictions based on the last digit of license plate numbers（尾号限行）政策，部分单位还实行staggered rush hour plan（错时上下班方案），并鼓励使用green car（新能源汽车）。
