据参与起草《刑法》第八次修正草案的人士透露，《刑法》中可能会单独设立“危险驾驶机动车罪”，对于酒后驾驶者将加重处罚。

Driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI) will be listed as an independent charge in the eighth amendment of the criminal law of the People's Republic of China, Chongqing Morning Post reported on Tuesday.

据《重庆晨报》周二报道，酒后驾车将被列入《中华人民共和国刑法》第八次修正案，成为一项独立罪名。

在上面的报道中，independent charge就是指“独立罪名”，此次《刑法》修正案在把driving under the influence of alcohol（酒后驾车，简称DUI）单独列为一项罪名的同时，还将对酒后驾车者实行heavy penalty（严厉处罚）。“酒后驾车”更加严重的状态是DWI（driving while intoxicated，醉酒驾车），也可以简单地用drunk driving来表达。这些行为跟drag racing（飚车）一样都属于endanger public security（危害公共安全）的范畴，应该受到严惩。

酒后驾车可能造成非常严重的交通事故，对于那些hit-and-run（肇事逃逸）的司机，更应该予以严厉惩治。此次草案预备单独设立的罪名还有employers defaulting payment on purpose（恶意欠薪罪）。
