近日，《中国国家形象宣传片》在京开拍。该片分为两个部分。其一是30秒的电视宣传片，将在国际主流媒体播出，以“中国人”概念打造中国形象。其二是15分钟的短纪录片，并供我国驻外使领馆及重要外宣活动使用，力图从更多角度、更广阔的视野展示当代中国。

文中的national publicity film就是指“国家形象宣传片”，这里的国家形象指的是我国在国际社会上的national image。Publicity film就是我们常说的“宣传片”，该片包括两部分，feature movie（专题片）和commercial（广告宣传片）。

此外，我们常见的影片还包括documentary film（纪录片）、action movie（动作片）、horror movie（恐怖片）。去年在末日情结的影响下，disaster movie（灾难片）也曾掀起过一股热潮。

Propaganda和publicity都表示“宣传”，但propaganda要慎用，它倾向于用夸张的想法和说法获取支持或影响民意，显然是一个贬义词。Publicity则是一个中性词，例如He works in publicity.（他是干宣传工作的。）因此“宣传部”就可以译为Department of Publicity，而“对外宣传”则常用international publicity来表示。
