对于个别地方公安机关将抓获涉嫌卖淫妇女游街示众的行为，近日，公安部下发通知，要求各地公安机关在扫黄中，要坚决制止游街示众等有损违法人员人格尊严的做法，要求执法充分尊重和保障人权。

中国禁止对卖淫人员进行游街示众——中国将制止对卖淫人员进行游街示众的做法，此前曾有性工作者被拉出去游街示众，引发了争议。

在上面的报道中，shame parade就是“游街示众”，在这里具体说来就是public shaming of prostitutes by parading them through the streets（通过游街来公开羞辱卖淫妇女）。Parade在这里是“游行”的意思，例如：civilian parade（群众游行）。Parade也可表示“检阅，阅兵”，例如：National Day Military parade（国庆阅兵大典）。

游街示众这一惩罚罪犯的做法自古就有，以前还有mass sentencing rallies（公判大会）和public execution（公开处决），不过随着社会的发展，这些做法早已被下令禁止了。
