7月1日，北京市环保局公布了黄标车淘汰治理最新进展。截至6月30日，今年北京市淘汰改造高排放污染黄标车总数达2.4万多辆。预计今年底，本市黄标车淘汰治理工程将基本完成。

在上面的报道中，yellow label car指的就是“黄标车”，是“高污染排放车辆”的简称，指连国Ⅰ排放标准都未达到的汽油车，或排放达不到国Ⅲ标准的柴油车，因其贴的是黄色环保标志，因此称为“黄标车”。和黄标车相对的就是green label car（绿标车，即汽车尾气排放达到欧洲1号或2号标准的车辆）。

现在许多国家都在致力于carbon emission reduction（碳减排），针对车辆排放的污染，可以鼓励使用zero-emission vehicle（零排放车辆），开展car-free day（无车日）活动，建立traffic-free zones（无机动车区域），征收carbon tax（碳税）等。
