第六次全国人口普查户口整顿和摸底工作已经陆续在全国各地展开，在挨家挨户的调查过程中，人口普查员们也遇到了不少困难。

China has recruited 6.5 million census takers for the next national population census beginning on November 1. These census takers will mostly be made up of local residents and workers from neighborhood or village committees.

我国已经为11月1日开始的下一轮全国人口普查招募了650万人口普查员。大部分人口普查员来自当地居民和社区或村委员的工作人员。

在上面的报道中，census taker指的就是“人口普查员”，也可以用census enumerator来表达。在人口普查正式开始之前，人口普查员先要进行door-to-door survey（入户摸底调查）。

摸底调查发现，北京大量的floating population（流动人口）给普查增加了难度，而且许多流动人口都没有temporary residence permits（暂住证）。在房屋change hand（转手，易主）时，也没有通知neighborhood committee（居委会）。另外，居民的uncooperative attitude（不合作态度）也是一大问题，从另一个角度看来这也说明了人们的awareness of privacy protection（隐私保护意识）有所提高。
