    一般说来，形容词、副词的比较级作定语修饰可数名词时，其前要用不定冠词。但当形容词比较级表两者中比较突出者或句中出现 of the two...短语时应使用定冠词。
    考例8： -If you don't like the red coat, take the blue one.
            -OK, but do you have ________ size in blue? This one's a bit tight for me.
    A. a big                     B. a bigger
   C. the big                  D. the bigger
    考例9： Which is ________ country, Canada or Australia?
    A. a large                  B. larger
   C. a larger                 D. the larger
    简析：考例8考查比较级与不定冠词连用。答案为B。
    考例9考查的是比较级与定冠词连用。表达两者中"比较突出者"，题干可理解为："Canada is the larger of the two countries"。答案为D。
    再如：Britain is the larger of the two islands.
