学习非谓语动词应注意的几点 — V-ing形式作状语与不定式作状语

    V-ing形式在句中可作时间、原因、条件、伴随、方式、让步状语等，这时相当于与之相应的状语从句。而不定式在句中常作目的、原因、结果状语。例如：
    While studying (=While I was studying) at college, I met a lot of foreign friends. （时间状语）
    Being poor (=Because he is poor), he can't afford to buy a car. （原因状语）
    Time permitting (=If time permits), we will visit the museum. （条件状语）
    The teacher sat at his writing table, preparing lessons. （伴随状语）
    Tom kept quiet about the accident so as not to lose his job. （目的状语）
    He hurried to the station only to find the train had left.（结果状语）
    I will be very glad to hear from you soon.（原因状语）
    The boy is old enough to go to school. （结果状语）
    注意：
    V-ing形式和不定式作状语的不同：
    V-ing形式作状语时，表示自然而然的、顺理成章的结果；而不定式作状语表示意料外的、意想不到的结果。例如：
    Father disappeared, leaving two children.
    We waited for three hours only to be told that we had to come tomorrow.
