文中的ghostwriter就是指“枪手”。最新的research paper（研究报告）揭示，ghostwriter的target client（目标客户）不仅有学生，还有教授，以及workers from all walks of life（各行各业的工作人员），其中，academic paper（学术论文）属于要价较高的一种。除ghostwriting（代写）外，还有人会采取plagiarism（剽窃）等不正当手段完成论文。

Ghostwrite做动词表示“代写，受雇替人代笔”，如：He ad mitted that the thesis was ghostwritten（他承认这篇论文是找人代写的）。如果要表示“为…代写”，则可以用ghost for somebody来表达，如：He ghosts for a number of sports personalities who “write” newspaper columns（他给一些为报纸专栏“写”文章的体育界名人代笔）.
