文中的online virtual assets就是指“网络虚拟财产”，例如QQ accounts（QQ账号）、chat room accounts（聊天室账号）等通讯工具号码；online games（网络游戏）中，游戏玩家的online game accounts（网游账号）、虚拟财产(virtual currencies虚拟货币和装备)等等。对此类财产的偷盗行为属于Internet theft and fraud（网络盗窃和欺诈）。

Virtual assets就是我们平时所说的“虚拟财产”，与之相对应的则是有具体载体的entity assets（实体财产）。按照有无实物形态，assets还可以分为tangible assets（有形资产）和intangible assets（无形资产）。为了收益最大化，我们常需要进行asset allocation( 资产配置)，对non-performing assets（不良资产）进行asset stripping（资产剥离）。但若经济失衡，则会出现asset bubble（资产泡沫）。
